Established in 1986, International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) aims to showcase the important role that infection prevention and control plays in saving lives. Spearheaded by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC), this weeklong annual effort is recognised across the globe and takes place during the third week of October.
At a local level, the week is more commonly referred to as Infection Prevention and Control Week. The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care supports IPC week with a range of resources to support learning and awareness raising activities throughout the week.
IPC Week is also a time to recognise and acknowledge the hard work and commitment of those individuals who champion infection prevention and control practices at their workplace so that patients (and staff) can benefit from a safer health care environment and experience.
The following resources have been created by our team at schülke for you. They can be downloaded and printed to help promote the important message of infection prevention and control in health care during the 3rd week of October.
