Antibacterial skin cleansers contain an active ingredient that will kill a range of micro-organisms on the skin. Plain soaps or cleansers have limited antibacterial activity and this activity is attributed to the detergent properties which aid in the removal of loosely attached transient flora on the skin.
There are different types of antimicrobial actives added to cleansers with the more well-known ones including chlorhexidine gluconate, triclosan, povidone-iodine and octenidine hydrochloride.
schülke has a range of antibacterial skin cleansers containing each of the above-mentioned actives (please also refer to the surgical hand antisepsis section) under the MICROSHIELD® and octenisan® brands.
