octenisept® gel is applied in case of acute skin lesions such as grazes, cuts and slight burns (e.g. also sunburn).
For an optimal healing of the wounds, they should be provided with enough moisture because the healing requires the skin cells to divide and to migrate. This is best possible in a moist wound surrounding. In addition, the wound must be protected against infections. The special formula of octenisept® gel optimally supplies the wound with moisture and forms a protection layer against bacteria. This protection layer prevents pathogens from entering the wound as these pathogens have already been inactivated in the gel. This way, octenisept® wound gel protects against infections and inflammations. The natural wound healing is thus helped and accelerated. The cooling effect of the octenisept® gel alleviates acute itching. octenisept® gel is colorless and does not burn during application.
Inactivation of pathogens
octenisept® gel shows excellent inactivation of pathogens after as early as 1 minute. The latter was determined in the quantitative suspension test with high protein exposure ('dirty conditions'). The results showed that the inactivation of pathogens in octenisept® gel was sufficient against all test organisms after a 1 minute application.

Tissue tolerability and biocompatibility of octenisept® gelNon-irritating, non-sensitising, pain-free, without tissue toxicity, no impairment of granulation or epithelialisation. The good tolerability of Octenidine has been confirmed by clinical experience over many years and by clinical studies also on chronic wounds.
Disinfect the wound with octenisept® wound disinfection immediately after the injury occurred. Then, cover the wound with a thin wound gel layer. If required, apply a dressing or plaster. Apply the wound gel 1 to 2 times a day until the wound has healed up completely. Due to hygienic reasons, the tip of the gel tube must not touch the wound or other surfaces.
