Fields of Application

Wound treatment: antiseptic wound treatment for acute and chronic wounds. 

Mucous membranes: repeat short-term antiseptic treatment of mucous membranes and adjacent tissues prior to diagnostic and minor surgical procedures in the anogenital region including the vagina, vulva and glans penis. Also indicated for use prior to bladder catheterisation to reduce the risk of urinary tract infections.

Instructions for use

Unless prescribed otherwise, apply to area to be treated with at least two swabs soaked with octenisept® antiseptic solution. Ensure the antiseptic covers the area to be treated completely. octenisept® antiseptic solution should be applied for a minimum of 1 minute for mucous membranes and wounds, and 2 minutes for the adjacent skin and allowed to dry for a minimum of 1 minute.

Composition: octenisept® antiseptic solution contains 1mg/ml of octenidine hydrochloride and 20mg/ml of phenoxyethanol. 

Other ingredients: cocamidopropylbetaine, sodium gluconate, glycerol, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Special advice

FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.

  • To prevent possible injury, the product must not be injected into the deep tissue using a syringe. octenisept® antiseptic is intended for superficial use only (application by swab or spray pump) and must not be used to irrigate penetrating wounds. 
  • octenisept® antiseptic solution must not be used for rinses in the abdominal cavity (e.g intraoperatively), bladder, brain, meninges, eyes or auditory canal (especially perforated ear drum)
  • Do not use if there is a known sensitivity to the active ingredients 
  • Discontinue use if irritation occurs 
  • Do not use in combination with PVP iodine antiseptics or dressings
  • Do not mix with other compounds
  • Do not swallow or ingest
  • Do not use for more than 14 days
  • octenisept® antiseptic can be heated up to body temperature
  • Do not freeze
